You know what you need for this Monday, a new tune by Gaslight Anthem. If you don't listen to this band, then I just don't know what you're doing. Do you like Bruce Springsteen mixed with punk rock sounds? Then listen to this band. Do you like an old school feel of a band just rocking out? Then listen to Gaslight Anthem. Heart felt lyrics and singing out a passion? Then listen to Gaslight Anthem. This song should be an excellent single to kick off their major league debut. Tell me what you think about this rockin' tune.

Memo Monday: Refused Postpone Network Debut
This is big news in the sense that Refused has never been on US Network television, therefore how awesome would it be to witness this? Now they will be setting a later date when they're back in the States for this and I'm excited to see them play. I would love to see them live, but doubt that will happen. Such a good time for them to reunite, even if they are performing on Jimmy Fallon, who I dislike a ton.

Selection Saturday: Make a Pick
These two songs remind me a lot of each other, so which one do you like better? Even the titles are practically the same thing. Oh 80's music, why couldn't you be more original at times?

Glass Tiger "Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone"

3 Music Moments that Defined Me
I saw a thread right here that was talking about those moments that make you realize why you loved music. I wanted to go a bit further and put the moments out there that made me realize why I wanted to play music.
Blink 182 in Concert
Yes this might seem an odd choice, but I distinctly remembering seeing Blink 182 back in 2000 and wanting to start a band right after that. They might not seem like the best band to decide to play music, but they did it for me because they could have fun up there playing. I knew that's why I wanted to do.
First band Faze Factor
How about playing in a living room for only a few people and playing some cover songs? That's what I remember from the first time I played with Stephen and Doug. We then added Tim along the way and recorded a cd in my basement. That's punk rock.
Okay Death Ray
How about playing out in public for people and seeing that people actually enjoyed the music? I still remember the time seeing some people singing words with me and getting such a chill up my spine. I was lucky enough to remember some of my lyrics since I didn't write them all down and just went out with an idea. But I remember those people singing along and telling me what songs they liked the most.
There you go, three distinct moments that made me love music the way I do. What about yourself? What makes you love music or wanted to play music?

New Release Tuesday: Motion City Soundtrack "True Romance"
Good tune by Motion City Soundtrack and getting me excited to hear what this album will hold. This song makes me think of the Promise Ring and the Anniversary, which is par for the course for MCS, but that's not a band thing. It's got the poppy feel of a band just finding their way back to the sound that they always should have had. I loved the last album, My Dinosaur Life, and feel like I will enjoy this one.

Memo Monday: NOFX Recording at the Blasting Room
This is awesome news as I think all the albums that come from this studio just sound amazing. Bill Stevenson knows what he is doing with bands when they go there. Already, the Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music have been here. They have new albums coming out,and you know they've have a sound that is going to sound like it's right in your face and right there. The Swellers recorded there last year and put out their best album to date, go check out The Swellers "Good for Me" Spotify Album. Rise Against has done a few of their albums there, and if you like that band, you know what you get with them. I am sure I could keep rattling off bands that have done work there, but I know that this could be a great Nofx sounding album, and that's something to look forward to.

New Music Tuesday: the Menzingers B Side
I'm not usually a B-side type guy because I feel like if it's not good enough to be on the album, then why release it? but of course time could have got in the way, and maybe a band just had enough good songs to make the album. Sometimes there are some good B-side tracks out there, and I figured I enjoyed this Menzingers full length so much, that a B-side track is probably good. And that's what you get with this song.
Live Set Tuesday: Foo Fighters Full Set
Who doesn't want to watch a live set of the Foo Fighters? I still remember the only time I've seen the Foo back at Conseco Fieldhouse four years ago. It is up there in my all time favorite shows because everything was good about it. Sound quality was right there in your face. The band played so many song that you knew. They had so much fun in playing together, which is key to me. I got more of an appreciation for them after seeing them live. I would love to see them again.

Cover Song Saturday: 8 Bit Cover Songs
I'm a big old school Nintendo guy, so when I came across the idea that songs have been covered in that style of music, I had to share it with my lovely readers. You can find a bunch of these things, but I'll post a few right here, and share your favorite ones with me.

Red City Radio "50th And Western"
The fine gentlemen of Red City Radio have a new video up for your viewing pleasure. It features the band rocking out in a bar, which is the perfect setting for this band. If you like your punk rock with gruff vocals and singalong choruses, then this is the band for you.

Gaslight Anthem Coming Soon
Exciting things happening in the Gaslight Anthem's camp as they look to release their major league debut. Personally, I think it won't be anything different now that they are on a major label. Sure they might have a bigger budget for making the album, but the sound should be the same. Or just enhancing the sound of the band. I am surprised it took this long to be part of the major labels. I see them doing an album or two and then doing their own label. That looks to be the way to do it anymore, look at Against Me, look at Alkaline Trio, and whatever other bands are doing that. But I am excited to hear the album, and it should be a fun summertime release.
