Musician's Block

I am not ready to give up the idea of playing music, but it's frustrating putting out the feelers for bandmates when nothing is happening.  I know I can get out there for shows, record music, and see where it goes. I have nothing else going on right now, and this would be the ideal time for me to playing music. I can come up with something out of nothing.  And when that something becomes a song, there's no better feeling.  I still remember the time that Okay Death Ray was playing and I saw people were singing along, that was validation, not that I NEEDED it, that we had a good song. I sing along with songs that mean something and I can get behind, so therefore, nothing was a  better feeling than achieving that.  That's why I want to still make music.  I go to shows anymore, and think why I am not up there.  No offensive to the local music around here!  We do have some great things happening, and I still believe Indy can be a Midwest stop for the bigger bands as long as they're willing to play here.  People need to show that support right back.  I'll continue the search and hope that I can keep writing music because why give it up now?

  1. When you don't have a band, that is the time to shut yourself inside close the shutters, and practice four hours a day for three years. Or eight years. Every single day. You see, nobody can really be good at anything, good enough to be considered an expert, until they get their 10,000 hours of practice in. I'm not kidding, look it up, it takes about 10,000 hours of practice before you are good at something. Around 2000 hours, I'm guessing, is when you'll have no prob getting band mates. At 5,000, you can probably get gigs consistently. At 10,000 well....you can pretend your guitar is your dick, and the ladies will actually drip till their panties show through http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPTP_JyQpl8
