Matt and Kim started the evening off. I don't care for them that much. I thought their songs all sound about the same, but they were entertaining and the drummer chick jumped around and really could bang the heck out of those drums. Just couldn't hear the drums over that wailing keyboard. they did some transition covers, and ended with Daylight, which seemed to be a big hit with the crowd.
Next up was My Chemical Romance, and once again, not a fan, but entertaining band. They just played through the set, which was a good change of pace. I knew we would get the witty banter from Blink 182, so why would MCR have to do anything like that? The crowd really started showing up when MCR playing, and MCR seemed to play a lot of the older stuff. I did enjoy "I'm Not Okay." They ended with some depressing song from the Black Parade, though, and I thought that was an odd way to end the set. From what I heard in the crowd, they always end like that.
Finally, the act that I think most people came for, Blink 182. Blink sounded even better this time around than two years ago. You could tell how much they just enjoy playing music now, and really have that essence of their older days. Tom kept telling us how sick he was to which Mark stated Shut the F up, you already told everyone how sick you were ten minutes ago. Ahh I love the banter! They did quite a few songs from the self titled album, four new songs, and of course the old classics. Carousel had a sweet intro. And I can't say enough about Travis, the drummer. For the encore, he was placed on this riser that would go out about the pit, and rotated a little bit. He got to be front and center, while beating the drums to his song "Give the Drummer Some." He would have been my last guess for a solo album, but hey I know he could play any drum rhythm you want, so why not. It was just a fantastic show all around, and I can't wait to hear the new album on September 27.
